THE new president of the Tockwith and District Agricultural Society Show has been appointed.
The Society is in its 70th year, and Stuart Coggrave has been handed the ceremonial crook by outgoing president Sam Blacker.
Mr Blacker thanked the committee, friends and supporters of TADAS for their support and help during his year as show president, during which he has raised about £5,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Society.
Lisa Chasney, show chairman, said: "Sam has been a wonderful president and an excellent figurehead for the show and the society.
"Sam has been involved with Tockwith Show for many years and we really value his advice, based on extensive experience and knowledge. We are confident that he leaves the role in good hands and that Stuart will be another excellent president."
Mr Coggrave has chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as his designated charity for his presidency.
He said: "I am very much looking forward to my term as president. It is a demanding role, but I know it will also be a very rewarding one, and that the committee and supporters will provide invaluable support to me throughout the year."
TADAS treasurer Fiona Harris has stepped down and will be replaced by Malcolm Slinger, and new committee members will also include Jo and Chris Nottingham and Ed Bird, who replace outgoing members Peter Kirby and David Garritt.
The 70th Tockwith Show will take place on Sunday, August 2, 2015.
