PUPILS from a York primary school have been on a mission to bring some festive cheer to commuters in the city.
Staff and children at Clifton Green primary school decided that they wanted to do something for their community and the city as the Christmas approaches.
So with the help of bosses at York Railway Station, the school arranged to bring some musical cheer to commuters and shoppers on their way in and out of York.
Pupils from Years 4, 5, and 6 spent time in the railway station on Monday, December 15, singing carols to the crowds and passers-by.
The school's community outreach worker John Hattam said: "The children all commented on how many people walked into the station, heard the music, and started to smile.
"It was great to have that chance to put a smile on people's faces in the run up to Christmas.
"We weren't collecting money for anything, this was just our contribution to the Christmas festivities in York."
He added: "It was a really good for the children as well to be out of school and in different surroundings, they really enjoyed it."
The performances went down so well that teachers are already planning next year's visit to the station, and hope to be there in time to entertain the rush hour crowds.
The school also sang Christmas carols to residents at nearby sheltered housing schemes Guardian Court and Marjorie Waite Court in Clifton.
