A 65-YEAR-OLD woman fought off a would-be robber close to her home on Christmas Eve.
The woman was walking home near Clifton Green at about 9.40pm, when a man approached her from behind and tried to snatch her handbag.
The victim fought him off with her walking stick and he fell to the ground before running off empty handed.
Now police want witnesses or anyone who can help to identify the man to get in touch.
He is described as white, aged in his early 20s, around 5ft 9in tall, with a skinny build and short dark hair, which was slightly bushy or curly. He was wearing light brown or mustard coloured jeans, and a dark jacket or jumper.
