A YORK survey has shown that more than three-quarters of parents are happy with their childcare in the city.
Results of the city council’s Childcare Sufficiency Assessment (CSA) show that 78 percent of parents think the childcare they use meets their child’s needs.
Eighty-two per cent felt the quality of childcare was high, and Ofsted reports show 82 percent of childcare providers rated by the independent inspectors as “outstanding” or “good”.
However, many people working shifts or looking for work tended to describe childcare costs as unaffordable.
The reports also show that most families with disabled children think the childcare market meets their needs, but more needs to be done to improve information and to provide support for children of secondary-school age.
