SCOUTS, police and nursery children have spread Christmas cheer in the Selby district.
North Yorkshire Police worked with Brotherton Scouts and children from Olive Tree Day Nursery who drew Christmas pictures and made Christmas decorations, while the Selby branch of Age UK and members of the local community donated gifts.
Off-duty PCSO Kelly Vause joined Parish Councillor David Nicklin and the local Scout Group and their leader Janet Edge last week to visit people who may have otherwise had to spend Christmas alone, and presented them with a picture that the children had drawn, a present and a mince pie, and the children sang Christmas carols.
PCSO Kelly Vause, of North Yorkshire Police, said: "The people we visited we thrilled that their community had thought of them at this time of year.
"Brotherton and Byram should be proud. This was a great example of community spirit, to spread a little joy and to let the elderly and vulnerable people of the community know they are not forgotten. Well done and thank you to all involved."
The scouts decorated a tree for one man who wasn’t going to celebrate Christmas as he doesn’t have a family and has recently been the victim of crime, and wrapped presents for him.
