TWO cancer survivors will take part in a charity race at York Racecourse next year to show their gratitude for the help they received from Macmillan Cancer Support.
Kirstie Hargreave and Michelle Hayward, who both beat the illness, are among 12 riders participating in a nine furlong race around the famous Knavesmire on Saturday June 13.
The fourth running of the Macmillan Charity Race again gives amateurs a chance to “ride the dream," with each one pledging to raise at least £2,500 for the charity.
Last year’s dozen raised more than £90,000 in what has become the biggest single fund raising event in the charity's calendar.
Other riders taking part this year include Emily Easterby, the 19-year-old daughter of Malton trainer, Tim, and Susan Mason daughter of Mick Easterby and so a cousin of Tim.
Also riding is Jonathan Gill, the owner of York and Royal Ascot winner, Fayr Jag, aged 61.
Anthea Morshead, Assistant Clerk of the Course said, “We had the highest level of applicants this year and we are grateful for everyone who volunteered to help this wonderful day.
"We wish the lucky dozen every success, both in their fund raising and in the race itself.
