HUNDREDS of onlookers lined a bridge and riverbanks in Knaresborough to watch a traditional Boxing Day tug-of-war across the Nidd.
The annual event at Low Bridge involved male and female teams from the Half Moon Inn and Mother Shipton Inn competing from both banks of the river.
Both the Mother Shipton Inn’s teams were victorious, with a close contest between the women’s team but a much swifter victory for the men, which saw competitors from the Half Moon coming close to an unwelcome dip in the chilly water.
