A MINUTE'S applause rang out at two football grounds yesterday for hospital-bound former York City star Clarke Carlisle.
York fans applauded as a sign of support for Clarke during the 22nd minute of their team's Boxing Day home match against Accrington Stanley, while Burnley fans made the same gesture during the 5th minute of their fixture against Liverpool at Turf Moor.
The times were chosen as they correlated with the squad numbers Carlisle wore during his times at the clubs.
The former Premier League defender and Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) chairman has been in hospital since he was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A64 at Bishopthorpe, near York, on Monday.
