MAJOR plans for the second stage of redevelopment and building at the former Terry’s site in York have received council approval.
The planning committee voted to support the application by David Wilson Homes to put more than 200 new flats and houses on land around the former Terry’s factory.
The final decisions over the developer’s contributions for affordable housing, education and open space have now been left to council planning officials.
The planning application was first submitted in July 2014, but scaled down from an original plan for 240 homes to 229 after objections about the size of some of the apartment buildings, and worries they would would block views of the iconic clock tower from the surrounding area.
