AFTER reading about 19 drink-drivers being caught in North Yorkshire – that’s 19 here, how many more across other counties of the British Isles? And the Christmas period hasn’t even got into full swing.
Isn’t it time we had a zero-alcohol policy for driving? The only alcohol allowed should be what the body makes itself, which is negligible.
How many more lives have to be lost before the law is changed? If you have a total ban on drinking and driving, any alcohol would be illegal – it is that simple. It would clarify the law – and no one would be able to say things such as “I thought I would be okay because I had had two pints with a meal...”.
Taxpayers’ money could be saved and no defence team should be able to get you off the charge.
