TO claim that new shops in the community stadium complex will not rival the nearby Monks Cross Centre is illogical and absurd.
People are free to go where they want to buy goods or services. Any new shops must be able to compete with existing nearby outlets or there will be no takers for those retail units.
Perhaps the consortium is planning to lobby parliament for new laws that prevents anyone shopping in their complex from going over the road to check out the opposition?
Or are the consortium going to insist that new shops will only be allowed to stock goods not currently available at Monks Cross? And given the range of merchandise already available at Monks Cross what could those goods possibly be that are not already for sale?
No it just doesn’t add up. Ridiculous comments in the design and access statement undermines the credibility of the whole enterprise.
