MORE homes and businesses in the East Riding will soon have access to superfast broadband.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has received the green light from the government to progress with plans for a second phase of broadband delivery.
A grant of £5 million has been made available from Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) and will allow the council to proceed with the project, with the aim of issuing a tender in spring 2015, awarding a contract in the summer and work starting in early 2016.
The second phase of investment will benefit approximately 14,000 properties in the East Riding and will complement the council’s existing Broadband East Riding project, which plans to make superfast broadband available to more than 42,000 households and businesses across the county.
