Until the northern bypass is dualled and the road from Hopgrove to the dual carriageway before Whitwell is also done, a cheaper option to help the traffic flow could be a gantry with traffic lights to alternate flow in the single lane A64.

It could be years before the dual carriageway is done, so a system that manages traffic flow on high volume is needed quickly.
