THE cold snap which has gripped York and North Yorkshire in recent days will be over by the New Year.
Weathermen expect last night's frost to be the last in the region for some time, with cloudier, milder weather on the way following another sunny day today.
New Year revellers will head to the Minster tomorrow night with temperatures rising but winds also increasing.
Temperatures could be as high as 11C on New Year's Day - milder than Rome and Madrid - as south-westerlies bring milder air up from the Atlantic.
Meanwhile, our photographer Anthony Chappel Ross has been out taking pictures of frosty scenes at Wilberfoss, east of York.
