MATTHEW Laverack (Letters, December 23) is right to warn about the possible early demolition of the Waterworld swimming pool.

City of York Council has previous history of this – many years ago the fantastic Barbican pool was demolished, leaving us with an eyesore to this day.

If the Yearsley Pool Action Group is successful, as they should be, in keeping the superb Yearsley Pool open, then the inferior replacement for Waterworld on offer at the Community Stadium may never be viable.
