DEVELOPERS say they aim to have York's community stadium completed by the summer of 2016 after all - provided there are no planning or construction delays.
Chris Symons, development director at GLL, stepped forward to clarify the situation this afternoon after their construction partner ISG announced in a press release yesterday that the stadium at Monks Cross would be completed in autumn 2016 - after York City's football season has started.
The announcement appeared to conflict with previous statements by City of York Council that work would be completed by the summer, in time for the 2016/17 season.
He said: "The project is still on track to start on site in late spring and we aim to have the community stadium completed by the summer 2016, subject to planning approval being achieved and no delays in the planning or construction process."
He said it was the 'commercial aspect' of the development which was anticipated to be completed by autumn next year.
