A VILLAGE football club has received a £2,000 cash boost from the parish council.
The White Rose Football Club, based in Bishopthorpe, received the cash from Acaster Malbis Parish Council, and it includes a large lump of “Section 106” planning contributions from developers in the villages.
Chris Gargan, the club’s treasurer, said: “ The donation from Acaster Malbis Parish Council is a fantastic surprise and a huge boost to the club which will enable us to continue to develop and improve our playing environment. I would like to say thank you to the parish council for thinking of us when allocating this funding and in particular to Cllr John Galvin for promoting the club and the cause of youth football in the area.”
The club caters for some 250 children under the age of 15.
Cllr Galvin said: “I am delighted that following my approach to the parish council it was agreed to make the grant to this football club.”
