ALTHOUGH inflation is reported to now be at a zero rate, we consumers are facing subtle price increases by other means for which we have no prior knowledge.

Let me quote just one example. I regularly buy a packet of well-known biscuits which previously wouldn’t fit unopened into my biscuit tin. Now it easily does, indicating fewer biscuits but for the same price.

Which rather challenges the claim of low inflation when producers resort to such devious ways to hide their price increases.
