CYCLISTS from around Yorkshire can download a free smartphone app to find out more about routes around the region.
Cycle Yorkshire has redeveloped the Ride The Routes app in time for the Tour de Yorkshire this weekend, which will see some of the world’s top cyclists visit the region.
The app was originally launched for the Grand Depart, but has been updated and expanded to include new routes for this year’s event, with maps, flyover footage and videos featuring semi-pro cyclist Jamie Sharp.
Ruth Gore, chairman of the Safer Roads Yorkshire and Humber cycling group, said: “We want people to explore our beautiful county on their bikes but we want them to do so safely.
“We also appreciate that many of those who do come here from outside the county will be completely unfamiliar with the Yorkshire road conditions, landscape and terrain, especially as, unlike during the races, all the roads will be open to other traffic.”
