MANY voters across York are waiting for their postal votes to arrive, just a week before polls close.
Council staff running the ballots have confirmed that the final batch of postal votes are due to be posted today, and have asked voters to get in touch if they have not received them by the end of the week.
Council chief executive and returning officer Kersten England tweeted last night to apologise to those voters still waiting for their ballots to arrive.
She wrote that of 17,000 people registered for postal votes in York, all but a small number of voters had already received theirs and 40 percent had returned them.
Among the voters still waiting for their ballots is Andrew Gibson, who lives in the Westfield ward.
Although Mr Gibson's two daughters have already received their ballot papers, neither he nor his wife has.
He said: "There are enough people complaining that there is no point in voting that when we do want to vote its worrying that we don't have our papers yet."
The couple requested postal votes so they could send their ballot papers in before they go on holiday, and other family members from York who are travelling with them are still waiting for their ballot papers as well.
