GREEN party councillors fighting to retain their seats on City of York Council have created a virtual version of The Beatles’ legendary Abbey Road album cover to make a point about road safety.
Councillors Andy D’Agorne and Dave Taylor, who both represent Fishergate ward, doubled up on a crossing in their ward to draw attention to road safety work which they say has improved safety for pedestrians.
Cllr D’Agorne said: “As ward councillors we felt that the alterations to the A19 Fulford Road needed to go further and include the Fishergate Gyratory system.
“There are well over 50 flats on the roundabout and greater footfall to the three pubs, bar, and two restaurants since the Barbican Centre was reopened.”
But the road still has danger spots where more work would be welcome, they added, in particular the junction of Cemetery Road and Fulford Road, and Fulford Road close to the Iceland and Aldi stores.
