SCORES of companies will be out to show they mean business when they take part in York’s Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon.
They will have the title of “fastest firm in the county” in their sights when they compete in the Northern Gas Networks Yorkshire Marathon Corporate Relay, which was officially launched yesterday.
The challenge splits the 26.2 miles of the marathon, which takes place in York and surrounding villages on Sunday October 11, into six legs of between three and six miles, making it accessible to runners of all abilities.
It is open to companies, sports clubs, groups of friends and other organisations, and last year’s relay, involving nearly 80 teams, proved popular with celebrity entrants including former England full-back Danny Mills, Olympian Tracey Morris, former Leeds Rhinos star Barrie McDermott and World Cup referee Howard Webb.
Scores of teams have already signed up for this year’s event.
