ALL York councillors are being asked to back our Let Your Doctor Decide campaign at their meeting next week.

Our campaign is the subject of a motion which will be put to the debate when the full City of York Council meets in the Guildhall next Thursday.

City leaders from the council's executive have already voiced their backing for our campaign when they backed a motion supporting it at a meeting on February 27.

The motion, put forward by Coun Martin Bartlett, also voices fears that delays to NHS treatment in York could have a negative impact on council services.

It thanks MPs and North Yorkshire councils who backed the council's motion calling on the Government to ditch the multi-million pound debt inherited by North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust (PCT) when it came into being on October 1.

York MP Hugh Bayley has said that the PCT is receiving a large growth in Government funding this year.
