I READ with interest the letter about BT's charges (Cash concern, March 31) and I agree with it.
I have experienced a similar incident with BT and have cancelled my contract with them as a result of their increasing my direct debit without prior notice (the notice arrived a week later).
I have now bought a mobile phone as all my family love them, and apparently, it's cheaper to ring "mobile to mobile". It's a "pay as you go" phone.
While cancelling the direct debit, I also upgraded my account by cancelling out on a few more unwanted debits, and actually saved myself £77 on the month. Therefore it pays to keep a close eye on your pennies.
I believe pensions are still paid at the post office, only now it's set up with a card and PIN number.
Gone are the days of the old pension book, but I may be wrong. Life was a lot simpler then when there was only yourself who could access your account!
