SO Mike Usherwood insists that he'll bash any section of the community which shows scant respect for the law and their fellow citizens.
Very laudable Mike, but I can't help thinking of a phrase which begins "People in glass houses "
If what I've experienced during driving lessons over the past six months is any indication, his energies would be better spent getting his own section of the community in order before telling others how to conduct themselves.
Some of the outright idiocy I've seen committed by other drivers pales into insignificance compared to the average errant cyclist, although I don't condone misbehaviour by either party.
I'd also politely decline his offer of a copy of the Highway Code, as I already have one. It cost me the princely sum of two quid. Granted, the storyline leaves something to be desired, but it did stand me in good stead for my driving theory test, and ten years of road cycling certainly paid dividends with regard to the hazard perception test.
I should also point out that both my bikes have more than adequate lighting, but his concern is appreciated.
Oh, and I pay road tax too.
