WITH reference to your article "Charity for disabled hails donation of 150 monitors" (The Press, April 4). Hails? Really? Even the probation service admits its first priority was to reduce landfill - the helping disabled people bit was just a bonus.
Rightly, everyone acknowledges charitable donations as worthy - but what charities need to operate, is the same as any business delivering professional services - cash. Without cash, they fold.
I'm sure this gesture was made in the right spirit, but come on - old monitors. Are the charity supposed to mount a campaign for 150 PCs next, followed by one for 150 keyboards?
Far from hailing the gesture, I suspect workers are wondering where on earth they can put them without increasing landfill.
