WANNABE David Baileys are being encouraged to enter their photographs into our new Picture Of The Month competition.
Each month, the winner's stunning image will be transformed into a desktop calendar - and featured in the pages of The Press.
The competition is only in its second month - but is already proving to be popular, with picture editor Martin Oates having to agonise over sack-loads of entries as the judge.
He has the task of scrutinising the photographs before selecting the crème de la crème - the top three.
Martin said: "All of last month's entries were strong - it was a difficult decision, narrowing them down to the final three. We've had a nice, varied selection of views of the York area.
"I would encourage people to take part in the competition.
"We are lucky to live in a beautiful area, and it's always nice to see how photographers interpret the environment and the area we live in."
People around the world will be able to enjoy these timeless reminders - by downloading the winning images onto their computers.
Richard Gowland, of The Press' digital media team, said: "We originally had a section for people to send their pictures in to, and we thought it would be a great idea for readers to be able to have them judged at the end of each month by the picture editor.
"We have combined our competition with the winner having their photograph turned into a desktop calendar. The competition has been quite popular - we've had a wide variety of pictures of numerous subjects, ranging from nature in York, to landmarks and scenery around the city. The pictures are downloaded a lot by people."
He said the desktop calendars were a good idea, because people the world over could have fantastic pictures of the city at their fingertips.
Leon van Hese was the winner of last month's competition - with his sublime snap of York's Millennium Bridge.
