THE new captain and lady captain of York Golf Club - Richard Masefield and Pat Clark - drove themselves into office on a bitterly cold and blustery day that brought success for their respective partners After the drive-in 32 couples took part in an informal mixed greensomes event which was won by a pairing of the captain's wife, Mary Masefield, and lady captain's husband, Ian Clark.
The event raised £160 towards the captains' charities.
York GC has recently embarked on clubhouse extensions that include the construction of a new professional's shop, extension of the lounge to provide a balcony, installation of a passenger lift, and extension and refurbishment of the ladies' and visitors' changing areas.
PIKE Hills GC's new captains are husband and wife David and Celia Impey.
They heralded the new season with David's drive reaching 219 yards and the lady captain advancing to 118 yards.
The Captain's Drive-In Trophy, donated by past captain Ray Newbiggin, was won by the Captain's team with the individual honours going to Mal Barley, who posted 37 stableford points.
IT was Jean genius for Heworth Golf Club ladies' section March stableford winner Jean Richardson.
En route to topping the event, she scored a hole in one to bag an eagle on the 126-yard eighth hole using a King Cobra driver. She also had a birdie on the 16th as she amassed 32 points.
KIRKBYMOORSIDE Golf Club Rabbits (16-28 Handicap) have won a unique club treble under the captaincy of Peter Asquith.
They picked up the Flamborough and District Golf Alliance, Les Clarkson Trophy and Jubilee Trophy team event - the latter being hosted by Kirkbymoorside.
The 20 players who have taken part in this victorious season are Asquith (capt), Chris Atkinson, Robin Cass, Steve Taylor, Trev Rolph, Dick Wardle, John Newman, Steve Dodsworth, Kieth Norton, Dave Hockney, Tony Spittlehouse, Steve Craggs, Phil Lumley, Tim Knowlson, Mark Ainsworth, Eddie Snowden, Dave Morrison, Ian Leaman, Tony Raby and Gordon Smith.
