BISHOPTHORPE may have left the door open for Ralph Butterfield to snatch the York Primary Schools Football League A' title.

The Bishops scraped past Clifton Green with a solitary Andrew Seager goal, but in a game they had to win, they could only muster a goalless draw against Lakeside.

A four-goal winning margin in their last game against Lakeside would see Butterfield crowned champions.

A Sam Cope hat-trick from midfield saw Ralph Butterfield see off Westfield 3-0 and a 3-1 win against Copmanthorpe with goals from Alex Field (2) and Kieran Dunlop gives them a chance of taking the title. Toby Spencer scored Cop's goal.

Cop completed their fixtures by losing 2-1 at Lakeside, where Dan Newband was on target and beating Clifton Green 2-1 with a couple of Dan Buckley goals.

League D' looks set for a fantastic finish with three schools in the mix.

Fishergate lead the way having added five points in the past fortnight. A 1-1 draw at St Aelred's with Paul Binn scoring was followed up with an emphatic 5-0 thrashing of St Wilfrid's with Daniel Tai, Campbell Thompson and Nathan Mason among the scorers.

Under-strength Dunnington beat St Wilfrid's 2-1 with Theo Ainslie converting two slide-rule passes from captain George Wilson.

Dunnington then fought back from 2-0 down after five minutes to draw at English Martyrs with goals from Frankie Benhidy and Jack Redmond.

Haxby Road moved level on points with Fishergate and Dunnington after three successive wins.

Cameron Ransome and James Kelly were on target as Road beat St Wilfrid's 2-0. Two headers from skipper Kelly saw them come from behind to defeat St Aelred's before a half volley from Oliver Armitage and a close strike from substitute Jack Pearson gave them a 2-1 win at English Martyrs.

Copmanthorpe won their last three games to be crowned League G' champions.

They won 6-1 against Ralph Butterfield with goals coming from Dominic Hogarth, Elliot Marshall, and two each from Alex Dunn and Harry Battles.

Cop were losing at Lakeside but hit back through Hogarth, Battles and Dunn to win 3-1 and wrapped up the title in style, thrashing Clifton Green 8-0 with Dunn, Battles, Hogarth and Ryan Stericker all scoring twice to take Cop's tally to 52 goals for the season.

Westfield won 3-1 at Ralph Butterfield with goals from Ben Hall, Luke Swales and Robert Stotten-Cobb.

Inconsistent Bishopthorpe B' sank bottom side Clifton Green 6-1 with goals from Stuart Bowes (2), Alex Henk, Jonny Swain, Tom Burtenshaw and own goal but then lost at home to Lakeside, Burtenshaw scoring for Bish.

Osbaldwick look set to defend their Champions League title if they can complete enough fixtures before season ends on April 27 in League E'.

They beat Knavesmire by the odd goal then won 4-0 against debutantes Badger Hill.

Tang Hall then became the first side to take points off Osbaldwick as a Jamie Heffernan hat-trick - including a last-minute equaliser gave the Sixth Avenue school a unexpected 3-3 draw, and owed much to an excellent goal-keeping performance by William Hutchinson. They couldn't repeat the feat in the return match going down 2-0.

Tang Hall defeated Badger Hill 3-1 with Heffernan again among the goals.

New Earswick made it four wins out of four with a 4-0 win at St Lawrence's, although lack of fixtures played may cost them the chance of a serious challenge.

League B' looks set to be a Clifton with Rawcliffe cake-walk.

They have won all six of the games they have played, knocking in 21 goals without reply. Their most recent outings resulted in two 3-0 victories, at Robert Wilkinson and Poppleton Ousebank with Luke Robinson (2) and Josh Bean on the scoresheet.

In League 'F', Our Lady's hammered Skelton 5-1 with Connor Ryan grabbing a hat-trick, but he was run close for man of the match honours by Harry Webb. St Mary's and Park Grove shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Headlands went back to the top of League C' with a 1-0 victory over Acomb.
