DOMINANT York Schools' Under-13 footballers completed three seasons without defeat with a 5-0 win at Bradford.

The first ten minutes was end to end stuff with both teams having chances to score.

The opening goal finally went York's way after good work from Jacob Gore and Matty Yeoman who played a long ball for Jack Wickham to fire home from long-range.

That turned the duel completely in York's favour and shortly afterwards Jacob McCormick made it 2-0 with a fine solo run and clinical finish.

There were also good chances from Yeoman, Tom Kite, Jamie Wilstrop, man-of-the-match Wickham, George Foster Vigors and Charlie Hirst.

Goalkeeper Peter Lawrie quickly thwarted any Bradford attempts and York were in such control that they made several more chances before half-time.

They continued to dominate with Aaron Hudson and Jordan Bean causing Bradford all sorts of problems on the wings.

York made it 3-0 through Johnny Sellars, Jules Gabbiadini added the fourth with a fine solo effort and the icing on the cake came when Bean, Gore, Hudson and Wickham combined for Yeoman to stab home the final goal.

For three seasons the strong squads from Bradford, Sheffield, Leeds, Hull, Wakefield, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Spen Valley, Barnsley, Rother Valley, Hambleton & Richmond and South Notts have all tried to defeat this York team but none have been victorious.

The undefeated U13s hope to continue their good form in the Durham Tournament as they play Derwentside, Carlisle, Darlington and South Northumberland.

York U11s demonstrated great character as they fought back from 2-0 down to almost snatch victory against East Cleveland.

East Cleveland started brightly, causing York problems down their right-hand side, and they took an early lead when goalkeeper Josh Archer parried a shot and a forward finished from close-range.

Cleveland doubled their lead when a fierce cross was slotted home at the back post.

The second-half saw the introduction of Joe Galloway and, with James Hudson on the other wing, York started to create chances.

Sam Kitson began to dictate in midfield and it was not long before York scored as Luke Robinson bravely headed home at the near post.

York were now well on top with the back four of Williamson, Barkway, Banks and Horseman dominating the Cleveland forwards and restricting them to a couple of half-chances.

It was no surprise to see York equalise through James Green as he avoided a couple of tackles to coolly finish past the advancing 'keeper.

York continued to push for the winner but time was their enemy and the game finished 2-2.
