Victoria Pettitt continues her tips on learning to swim...
One question asked by parents is, "Is there anything I can do to help my child improve when we go swimming as a family or go on holiday?"
When taking your child swimming, try to practise whichever stroke they are trying to master if you can explain it, or ask the swimming teacher for a "parent's hints and tips leaflet".
Sometimes it is necessary for them to have aids on while practising.
I always suggest that an inflatable woggle or a swim belt are the best things to help with building up stamina while with parents. There are fewer restrictions on their arms; this is assuming they are at that strength where all they need is a bit of support.
A woggle or swim belt is ideal and, with prices starting at £5 for woggles and £7.50 for the swim belts, it is a wise investment to help them.
