I WAS interested to read the letter "Recycling anger at elderly home" (The Press, April 3).
Whoever wrote this letter should be very proud, and I wish to assure her/him that I and my fellow Labour candidates are already aware of the situation, which applies to all council-owned buildings, including community centres and care homes.
We have it on our list of things to pressure the new Labour council to correct when we are elected on May 3. Apart from the benefit to the environment, the Lib Dem council should have been leading by example on recycling by having facilities available at all its properties.
Local Labour is committed to extending kerbside recycling throughout York to include the many terraced streets presently not included in the councils' scheme.
I have a keen interest in recycling, and am proud to have been involved with St Nicholas Fields as a representative of the residents' association.
Many people may not know that it was St Nicks which pioneered kerbside recycling, and were the first to commence doing this in York Tom Gibson, Labour candidate for Fishergate, Tang Hall Lane, York.
