MY wife and I were attending the 3pm Good Friday service at English Martyrs', Dalton Terrace, and knowing that the church's own car park would be full, and that the nearby surgery was closed as it was a public holiday, parked in the parking area reserved for doctors to one side of Driffield Terrace.
We thought absolutely nothing of it, as did several others.
We were clearly inconveniencing no one. Yet on returning to our car, we were astonished to find that, along with others who had done the same as us, we had received a parking ticket.
How petty can you get?
