MOTORISTS in York are set for a second bout of bridge closure misery from Monday.
Thousands of commuters suffered delays when Holgate Bridge, situated on the A59 York to Harrogate road, was closed to two-way traffic for several weeks before Easter for a £1 million repair scheme by Network Rail.
It reopened for the school holiday period, but further work is still needed.
The old iron railway bridge is in a much worse condition than was originally thought and does not correspond to the original architects' drawings.
Traffic for York's first race meeting of the season on May 16 could be disrupted if repairs are not finished on time.
