THE carp at the Willows showed a liking for maggots again at the weekend when Dave Pollitt (Hirst Tackle) scored an impressive win from peg 35.
Fishing at 16 metres, he netted carp to 6lb topping up with ide caught shallow when bites dried up. His winning bag of 93lb put him well ahead of Garbolino Ossett's precocious talent, Joe Carrass, who also used the humble grubs to great effect from peg 50. Fishing shallow tight to the island the youngster finished with a level 65lb.
