They took the honours by one point, as close rivals Cueball B' could only manage a 6-3 win against Burnholme - the snooker club's captain Tracey Farmeary (23) and a maximum from Bev Harton was not enough.

The tussle for third spot saw Slip B' take the honours as they beat close rivals Tramways A' 6-3.

Clifton A's Jo Hodges was again their heroine securing victory against Flag with a 69 finish playing a lone-handed pairs.

Severus finished runners-up after Jackie Simpson threw an 89 finish (treble 19, double 16) then partnered Mavis Gallimore to secure victory at Yearsley.

Clifton B's Joan Woods closed on 75 in her singles then partnered Linda Embleton to set up a decider at Cygnet B', in which the visitors' victory was secured by Sandra Pallister-Ann Sellers.

Shepherd A' also turned to their final partnership, Chris Peebles-Eileen Haw, to achieve victory against Sun.

Acomb are division three champions after sewing up a win over Shepherd B' within the singles. Heather Green was the losers' only single success, and then partnered Jenny Barron to double the club side's tally.

Britannia A' are second despite being sunk 6-3 by Woolpack.

They finished level on points with Tang Hall, who rallied in the pairs to win at Jubilee, Jean Elliott partnering Julie Montgomery to seal victory. But Brit's better win ratio secured the runners-up place.

Tap's victory against Leeman A' came via the Terry Corney-Anne Keswick combination.
