MAUREEN and Barry Walker won the York IBC Easter Mixed Pairs competition for the second time after a six-year absence beating Janet Collinson and Gordon Fennell.
Both teams went into the final unbeaten, and it was Fennell and Collinson who got off to a good start, leading 6-0 after only three ends.
However, the Walkers got back with nine shots over the following three ends leaving time for only one more end to play Collinson and Fennell tantalisingly fell one short and lost 9-8.
Kevin Harris and Sheila Turpin retained the Plate when they beat Alan and Pat Potter 12-0 in the final. Earlier Turpin and Harris had lost their first two group games but won their last narrowly beating the Potters 6-4.
