SIMON Dyson's bid for success in China was Shanghai'd by a stomach bug.
The North Yorkshire golf ace, who was pre-tourney favourite at 10-1 to lift the China Open, lasted just eight holes of the opening round before he had to withdraw from the event with a bout of food poisoning.
It was wretched luck for the 29-year-old Malton and Norton GC player, who was returning to the scene of one of his triumphs as a rookie professional in the Asian Tour, which he won in 2000.
Dyson, who has followed on two European Tour triumphs last year with two third places and a seventh in an impressive start to this season, was two-over par at the Shanghai Silport GC when the bug finally struck him down.
