I WOULD just like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the couple who stopped and helped my son when he had an accident on Monday.

He was cycling along Ridgeway, in Acomb, when he hit a speed bump and came off his bike. A couple in a red four-door Rover stopped and helped him.

The lady in question took my son to his destination, and her partner walked with his bicycle to the destination.

He continually said thank-you. However, he forgot to get a contact name, address or even a telephone number.

Once again, on his and our behalf, thank-you.

Maggie Parker, Dodsworth Avenue, Heworth, York.

A letter sent by Philip Crowe in tribute to former City of York Council chief planning officer Eric Pearson (Eric's legacy, Letters, April 6) was sent on behalf of the regeneration interest group York Tomorrow, which Mr Crowe chairs, rather than in a personal capacity. We are happy to clarify the situation.
