OUR Live Now, Drive Later campaign has been backed by Lib Dem Home Affairs spokesman Nick Clegg.

He praised the initiative, which aims to stop underage youngsters getting behind the wheel of a car by producing a hard-hitting video for schools in out area He said: "I think it's an excellent campaign, because joyriding brings not just terror to our communities, but tragedy to the families who have lost people and lost loved ones, and I can't think of a better way to deal with this at source.

"It's a way of getting into schools and spelling out in no uncertain terms that they are playing with life and death, not just a game with someone else's vehicle.

"This is a lot more serious than teenagers realise when they climb into a car and race off at breakneck speeds."

The campaign has also been backed by Tory leader David Cameron.

The Press launched Live Now, Drive Later following the inquest into the deaths of 15-year-olds Joel Corner and Daniel Wright, and van driver Peter Alexander.

Last April Joel took his father's Audi A4 and drove round York before losing control and crashing into Mr Alexander's van in Stockton Lane.

Joel, his front seat passenger Daniel, and Mr Alexander, all died instantly.
