IT has been a long four years, but York finally has a charting band again.
Parallel Worlds, the debut single by former York Minster choristers Elliot Minor, entered the charts yesterday, reaching number 31.
Lead singer Alex Davies, 20, of Wheldrake, said: "I am speechless. We are delighted.
"We got a call from our manager an hour before, saying we were number 31, but we were wondering is it true? It's amazing."
It is the first time a York band has made the Top 40 since 2003, when Shed Seven reached number 23 with their final hit Why Can't I Be You?
Alex said they were hoping that as more shops stocked the single, it could continue up the charts.
In the meantime, the group are working with their Los Angeles-based producer on the rest of their album, which is due to be released later this year.
