ALMOST daily, the health crisis in our area appears deeper.
Today we report how York Hospital is merging its ear, nose and throat and ophthalmic units to trim costs.
And on Saturday we revealed that seven patients a day could be turned away from its accident and emergency unit.
Hospital manager Mike Proctor says there is no doubt some patients now going to casualty could be cared for in the community, but Glen Gears, of York's ambulance service, warns of "a really, really dangerous situation".
We can only pray that Mr Proctor has got it right.
