A NEW mousse version of Nestlé's old favourite chocolate bar Aero has been launched at the company's York factory.

Nestlé has invested more than £1 million in new equipment on its Aero production line off Haxby Road to make Aero Mousse, and its launch will be supported by a high profile £2.2 million media campaign.

A company spokesman said the bars were designed to appeal to women who were constantly on the go but 'value a small moment and reward for themselves.'

He said: "Each bar will consist of bubbly Aero chocolate, topped with a layer of velvety chocolate mousse, all wrapped up in a smooth milk chocolate shell.

“Aero Mousse has been created in response to an increased desire and trend from consumers to experience something that goes beyond the norm when it comes to indulging in chocolate confectionery."

He said the layers within the product delivered two different textures within one bite.

"As the product melts, we believe it will satisfy the need for an indulgent chocolate pleasure hit, and what’s more, because it’s Aero, it won’t leave consumers feeling heavy and weighed down afterwards."

The brand has gone on sale as both a single impulse bar, available at a recommended price of 62 pence, and as a 150g sharing block, available for £2.

The spokesman said a heavyweight media campaign would be launched on June 15 and would be focused on six sheet posters in close proximity to retailers, as well as throughout the transport network, such as railways, underground and bus routes.

The bar would also be promoted in city centres and shopping malls and through a digital campaign via Facebook.

He said retailers were being advised that because of the media campaign, shoppers were certain to be looking for Aero Mousse in store and then, once they had tried the product, they would be returning to buy more.
