York John Smith's Ladies Darts League semi-finals brought a flurry of top-class duels.

In the Elsie Bell drawn pairs, the favourites Dawn Exton (Cygnet) and Di Moreland (Slip) were dumped out by Ox's Sandra Bruce-Ann Reagan, who hit the big scores and closed 60 to secure the opening leg.

It was Bruce who took advantage of the other pair's inability to secure a 2-0 win.

In the final they will meet Cueball's Tracey Farmeary and Clifton's Linda Embleton who despatched the Cygnet pairing Lynn Thompson-Rosie Hattee after Embleton slotted in a 125 followed by a Farmeary ton and 40 closure.

Farmeary will meet Cueball colleague Angie Hields in the final. Hields winning a tense battle against Tramways Roz Kerr with two 25 legs.

Farmeary was taken to the wire by Moreland with both players missing chances to wrap up victory, Farmeary holding her nerve.

Farmeary-Hields also progressed to the captain/vice captain and pairs finals.

In the pairs they proved too strong for Burnholme pairing Marj Pearson and Caroline Whittaker. They now meet Cygnet pairing Michelle Britton-Dawn Exton who knocked out team colleagues Lynn Thompson-Daphne Greene in a close contest.

In the captains final a 94 finish from Hields won a thrilling contest which included eight ton plus scores to see off Tramways Kerr-Sue Lowery. Their opponents are Clifton's Jo Hodges-Carol Price who won a three leg thriller against league newcomers Lynn Clapham-Sharon Byram of Tiger.

Kerr was joined by Lynda Kennelly and Julie Ashton (who played a blinder) in the triples, Ashton scoring well and finishing both games for victory against Slip Babs Harrison and mother and daughter Carol Perrett-Claire Cooper. Their opponents are Britannia's Kay Stephenson, Louis Douglas and landlady Chris Moore who scuppered title holders Cueball's Farmeary, Tina Platt and Lindsey Sawyers.

Finals night is at Clarence WMC on April 17, 8pm start.
