A SUMMER fair complete with creepy crawlies and a bucking bronco has proved a hit with villagers.
Appleton Roebuck Primary School's annual event saw hundreds of residents turn out to enjoy a Wild West theme, featuring barn dancing and a hog roast provided by neighbouring farmers.
Amanda McVey, a PTA committee member, said: "We said we would have a bucking bronco at this year's event and the Wild West theme developed from there.
"Last year we had a 1940s day to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, but we thought the Wild West would be quite good in the summer, and the fact there's a lot of farmers around here.
"It's a nice event because a lot of the farmers who have nothing to do with the school have got involved."
Funds raised during the fair on Friday will pay for new equipment for the school, while Appleton Roebuck Methodist Church which also took part in the event raised money for their building.
