ROMAN are preparing to stage a celebration weekend at a York pub.
Legio VI Victrix, Eboracum, is descending on The Gillygate pub, which will host the event from noon tomorrow until 3pm on Sunday in association with The Roman Bath Museum.
There will be a display of replica Roman equipment from 1st Century BC to 3rd Century AD, and a chance to meet some real Roman soldiers and join in with family events, such as mosaic making and a Roman-themed kids colouring competition.
Children can pledge allegiance to the Emperor and join the legion, with lessons on how to march and form a ‘testudo,' and Roman-themed beers and a barbecue will be available. People can also see how Roman soldiers lived as they camp out in their own Conturburnia tent.
