A TESCO shop in York has been burgled in an early morning raid - with three thieves making off with a handful of scratchcards.
Thieves completely smashed the front door of Tesco Express in Huntington Road in a raid at 3.30am.
But all that has been taken is a "handful of scratchcards", North Yorkshire Police said.
The scene has been taped off.
The offenders, three men, ran off in the direction of Brandsby Grove, North Yorkshire Police said.
Eyewitnesses have been interviewed by police.
A Tesco spokesman said: "We’re assisting the police with their enquiries. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused to customers by the temporary closure and will reopen this afternoon."
They said the store's security systems had been triggered by the break in.
Inquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information which could assist the investigation, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police. Dial 101, press 1 and pass information onto the force control room.
Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
