Today is a sad, yet very special day. It is the first anniversary of the crash in which teenagers Joel Corner and Daniel Wright and Press van driver Peter Alexander died.

Our hearts go out to the grieving families of all three. But it is also a day of hope.

Our Live Now, Drive Later campaign to highlight the dangers of "joy riding" has won the backing of Transport Minister Stephen Ladyman. And York film producer Christopher David has agreed to help us produce a hard-hitting video aimed at making teenagers think twice before they take such risks in future.

Two of the men who will feature on that video met in the offices of The Press this week - Joel's father, Lee, and Mr Alexander's son, Stuart. It was a moving encounter, at which there were no recriminations - just a shared determination to do everything possible to raise awareness of the dangers and so save young lives.
