ANOTHER impressive display from York Acorn Under-11s saw them sweep to a 48-22 win against Hunslet Parkside at Thanet Road - Josh Potter scoring a hat-trick.

Prop Ricky Watson got a brace while second row Lewis Lord also scored to put Acorn in demand.

L eading 18-12 at the break, Acorn put their foot down in the second half as Hunslet started to lose control in the heat.

Heworth U10s ran riot at Walton Wanderers on their way to a 40-12 win. They scored three well worked tries in the first half from coaches' man of the match Jamie Heffernan, Matty Heels and man of the match Jonny Rawsthorne.

Heffernan and Jack Hampton added to the tally early in the second period but Walton responded with two converted tries of their own. A revival was thwarted when top tackler Ryan Martin and Keiran Cooper crossed the whitewash, before Heffernan notched up his hat-trick.

Next up for the U10s was a trip to Castleford Lock Lane, where the Villagers conceded a last minute try and had to settle for a 16-16 draw.

Lock Lane scored two quick tries to take a 10-0 lead but good offensive tackling by Greg Calum brought a turnover try for Jack Hampton. Excellent footwork and speed then brought two long range tries for Heffernan and Rawsthorne to give Heworth a 16-10 half-time lead.

Most improved Heels, Billy Sturdy and Matthew Greaves kept Heworth in front in a bruising second period, but a last minute converted try by Lock Lane meant they had to settle for a draw.

The All Blacks went further ahead through James Harris, who celebrated his tenth birthday with his first ever touchdown. The Lions clawed their way back into contention once again before Jonny Hopwood drove over the line for NEAB's fifth try of the game.

Some determined defending including a brilliant catch by most improved player Pat Tate ensured the visitors were only able to score a late consolation. Top tackler was James Casey, Dan Richardson also picked up a most improved award and Zak Johnson was the opposition coaches' man of the match.

New Earswick U9s showed great team spirit as they hosted Hunslet Parkside.

Although only his third game for the All Blacks, Jamie Law produced some excellent defensive work and good runs which earned him the Outstanding Effort award.

In this thrilling encounter, Luke Hodgson continued his try scoring spree by adding another one to his tally, while George Leatt and George Mosey were rewarded for their strong running by scoring a try each.

All Blacks U8s had a chance to shine in a ten-minute game against York Acorn. Fantastic tackling from Harry Suter and Harvey Baynes kept the Acorn at bay.

Acorn U10s wilted in the second half heat at Garforth Tigers, eventually going down 42-22 after conceeding 16 unanswered points in the second half.

Jimmy Hardwick and coach's player Reece Arthur scored a brace of tries apiece while Joe Flakes put in a tireless stint of tackling on a rock hard surface to take the man of the match award.
