THE man whose body was pulled from the River Foss on Wednesday has now been named.
Police have identified the man as David John James Clarke, 43, of Bishophill, York.
Mr Clarke was found dead in the Foss near the village of Towthorpe, on the outskirts of York. He was dragged from the river at about 12.30pm, after a member of the public spotted the body and called police.
Now York CID are appealing for anyone who saw Mr Clarke recently to phone them on 0845 6060247.
A previous police description of Mr Clarke was he was 6ft 2in tall, of medium build, with green eyes and short, brown receding hair. He was wearing black trousers, a white hooded Adidas top with front pockets, and a white T-shirt with green and red trim on the collar and "strong words softly spoken" in green writing on the front.
